Kz Zs3 Review - Customer Reviews: Kz Zs3 Noise Cancelling In

The packaging is nice, a definite step up from the normal plastic sleeves budget earbuds come in. The cover slides off khổng lồ reveal an inner packing piece with the earbuds. The wire, which is separate, và two different sized replacement tips are below in the opaque baggies, along with a small manual.

The buds are big but have a specific fit, kind of diagonally inverted, that feels decent. That lower ridge thing secures them between the tragus & antitragus of the ear (google it) .

The ZS3 is designed khổng lồ be worn inverted, with the wire going over the ear. The two advantages of this style are that, one, the earbud won’t annoyingly pop or get ripped out, và two, it helps reduce microphonics, which is the noise you can sometimes hear through the earbud when the wire rubs against your shirt or whatever else. The buds & wire are separable via a two sạc connector, which obviously allows for each part khổng lồ be individually replaced if necessary & is a pretty fancy feature for a budget-tier pair of earbuds.

The plastic tube thing that extends a few inches down from the top of the male connector is malleable và allows you lớn fit the wire around the ear exactly the way you want it.

It took me a little while khổng lồ figure these out và get a good fit, but once I did it felt quite solid, though the tube things aren’t as nice as actual behind-ear pads that come with more expensive earbuds.

The individual pin wires và 3.5 milimet wires after the joint are exposed and just kind of wrap around each other. Out of the right headphone they feed through a basic in-line mic with a single on/off gọi button. I would have liked a second layer of insulation here, but, I suppose this is one way they keep the cost of these lớn a bare minimum. One thing I worry is that something could get caught along the wire, but, just be careful about that I guess.

All in all, though, these are well designed và nicely fitting earbuds that are an emphatic level up from typical similarly priced competition.

Spec/Performance Discussion, Listening Impressions, Other Related Observations

These sounded very solid, frankly better than anything else that costs the same or less that I’ve listened khổng lồ so far. There weren’t any immediately perceptible specific flaws, & the general sound signature was good – nice and even with good clarity and detail. There was slight boxiness và recessed mids, sometimes, but that’s about all I noticed, and pretty barely for that matter.

The bass was also quite good – various drops I listened to lớn that normally thất bại tone, pitch, và volume with cheap headphones didn’t with the ZS3. There was a little bit of resonance and fatigue on some thumpy EDM songs, but I’m somewhat biased against that whereas other people love that sensation.

The quoted response range is 10 – 20k Hz which is about as good as it gets with budget headphones, & I can tell from listening that KZ isn’t fudging it here.

The sensitivity rating is 98 which is a bit on the low side – I had to lớn turn up my devices a little bit to get to optimal listening volume. The impedance is only 16 ohms though, so pretty much anything should be able to power these & get them loud enough just fine.

I’ve seen these called “noise cancelling” headphones in some places but they’re not really, they’re merely isolating headphones, but they bởi vì a good job of it. These are definitely usable as commuter headphones in noisy environments.

The KZ3 has a one year warranty which is pretty minimal, but about as good as it gets for something as cheap as it is.

I don’t have too many specific notes on the songs I listened lớn with these because they did a decent job on most of them, & the notes I vày have are fairly minor.

Specific Play-through listening notes:Daft Punk; Give Life Back khổng lồ Music – background guitar on vocal part is recessed, otherwise sounds solid
Daft Punk; Get Lucky – solid overall, great clarity
Daft Punk; thua Yourself khổng lồ Dance – beginning bass was solid, little bit of resonance
An Endless Sporadic; Impulse II – sounded solid, no specific/perceptible complaints
The Choir of Trinity College; Ubi Caritas – sounded solid, particularly good actually
Clean Bandit; Rather Be – sounded solid, no specific/perceptible complaints
Steely Dan; Peg – sounded solid, no specific/perceptible complaints
Lil Wayne; A Milli – drop came in nice và strong, little bit of fatigue
The Chainsmokers; Wake Up Alone – drop sounds good once again, full tone/pitch, ambient middle instruments a little quiet
Earth, Wind & Fire; September – brass/strings feel a little far back và quiet, tried turning up volume but percussions got too loud & harsh
Deadmau5; The Veldt – sounded solid, no specific/perceptible complaints
Metallica; One – beginning guitar sounded nice & detailed, distorted guitar sounded a little flat & underwhelming, final guitar solo held together nicely
Pantera; Cowboys From Hell – bit of grain & lack of clarity, bass recessed a bit, but sounds pretty good overall
Ludovico Einaudi; I Giorni – sounded solid, no specific/perceptible complaints, nice and even, no lost instruments
Nas; The World Is Yours – midrange recession very apparent, both beat and vocals were a bit forward & harsh, backing track is quiet
No Doubt; Hey You – sounds solid, no specific/perceptible complaints, guitar nice & punchy, harpsichord solo sounded good
Petit Biscuit; Memories – beat was pretty forward, significant thumpy fatigue, mid-song build up sounded really good
Rage Against The Machine; People of the Sun – sounded solid, no specific/perceptible complaints
RÜFÜS DU SOL; Sundream – sounds solid, no specific/perceptible complaints
Rush; YYZ – good tightness và clarity, Peart’s drumming sounded good
Vanilla Sky; Umbrella – sounds solid, no specific/perceptible complaints

Overall Take, As Compared to lớn The Competition

These are really good sounding earbuds for a minimal price. The buds are a bit bulky, and it might take a bit of time & effort lớn figure out a good fit, but they feel solid và comfortable once you do. They also have good noise isolation for those who need it. At less than $15 dollars these honestly might currently be the best all around earbuds you can get. I don’t know why this company isn’t more mainstream-popular, probably due to under-marketing.Get the KZ ZS3 in-ear headphones on Amazon

Pros: Affordable price, great build quality, beautiful looking (almost like a custom IEM), reasonably comfortable, secure fit, powerful bass, great soundstage for an IEM
BACKGROUNDAfter having all over-ears for a while (for the good duration of 3 years or more), I kinda missed IEMs. Checking review online for the best budget IEMs, I came across Knowledge Zenith (KZ). Reading good đánh giá about their IEMs, I started researching on what their best offering is at that time (2017). Most nhận xét pointed me towards the KZ ZS3. I’m a sucker for good soundstage and nhận xét seem unanimous, it has good soundstage for an IEM so I decided to buy one online. Does it meet my expectations? Let’s find out.ABOUT MEI listen lớn almost all genres of music but my favorites are rock, blues, và jazz. I am a music lover, not an audiophile. I need to lớn veer away from the audiophile persona from now on. I love music more than the equipment to lớn play music with. I recognize that decent equipment is important but decent is good enough. Expensive is not necessary. I’m not willing lớn go past the $100 mark for any reason. I firmly believe in the law of diminishing returns.I believe in burn-in but it depends on the headphones. Some bởi vì not need much. Some bởi not need any at all.I believe in measurements but I never relied on them. I solely rely on my ears. I believe that blind chạy thử is the only real test, without any visual influence or biases, without placebo. Audio nirvana for me is a state of mind, not a state of equipment.Regardless of my beliefs, I respect all audiophiles & music lovers for their passion and dedication.PACKAGINGHere are the pictures of the basic packaging và the IEMs themselves. I also purchased the upgrade cable but what I chose is originally intended for the ZST so I needed to lớn carve some plastic off surrounding the two-pin plugs for them to fit perfectly. Why did I choose one for a different model that doesn’t fit on the on-set? Simply because they’re beautiful! See for yourself:
For complete specs và features, please check here - QUALITY, DESIGN, và COMFORTBuild quality is impeccable for the price. It’s plastic but very high quality. I say the cable is pretty decent and the mic that also works for play or pause is more accurate và reacts faster than the ones found in the ve sầu Monk Plus. Cable is quite rubbery too so if you bởi vì not like that type of texture, then nâng cấp cables abound online for KZs.Comfort is average for an IEM. I’ve got an average form size ear so it fits me well & I don’t find it unpleasantly painful for long listening sessions (past the 1 hour mark). It doesn’t “disappear” và you’ll know it’s there but the housing is shaped to lớn the outer ear so you don’t have the feeling that it’s digging in khổng lồ something. Quite comfortable overall.Design is really beautiful, don’t you think? It almost looks like a custom IEM. I believe it is inspired by custom IEMs. Not that I own one but I think that’s where they’re going with those looks. With the upgrade cable, it looks ten times more expensive than it really is. Và because of the over-ear wearing method, plus the shape of the housing conforming to lớn the outer ear, fit is very secure. I lượt thích the fact that it doesn’t slide off often as with traditionally worn IEMs. SOUNDBurn-in: Well it did not change that much after 100 hours or so I don’t think it benefits too much from burn-in.SET-UP USED:Lenovo K4 Note điện thoại cảm ứng (with Wolfson WM8281)Dolby Atmos engaged at Music mode where EQ is flat

Let’s get one thing out of the way right away – these are bassy, too bassy for my liking. Do I hold it against them? No. Not so much. I’m not a basshead but I would say these are worthy of a basshead’s attention. Nonetheless, the quality of bass is great. It’s powerful. It’s not dreary or anemic. It’s not the fastest, but it’s not a slouch either. The overall sound signature is warm and enjoyable. That extra bass adds fun khổng lồ the music, especially for pop và other bass heavy genres. Mids and highs are not drowned out by the powerful bass but there is considerable bleeding. I believe that’s intentional. They’re going for a big, wholly sound và I believe they achieved that. One merit I would laud them for is, this sound signature is perfect for the commute. Bass can be easily drowned by outside noise and the extra bass to lớn these IEMs compensate well for that. A big plus is that they give you great isolation because of their shape. If isolation’s your thing, these are worth considering. It’s the type of isolation though where you would hear yourself chew or swallow so there’s a fair warning. If you hate that type of isolation, go with classic earbuds instead. A lot of reviewers are not wrong about soundstage either. It’s mostly outside your head, a few inches away. It’s not too wide as you would expect for an IEM but it’s decent, great even, for the price they’re in. Imaging is also great for the price. It’s not hard lớn pin-point where instruments are or where they’re coming from. I also enjoy movies with these. I believe that bass has some influence on soundstage. I find that over-ear studio monitors sound wider than bassier sets because they are tuned flat. That gives all of the instruments a breathing space. Bass can push things forward & not too spread out, affecting soundstage. This is very noticeable when engaging the bass boost in tai nghe amplifiers, lượt thích the Fiio A3 in this regard. These, apparently, vày not need a bass boost. With that said, kudos to lớn KZ for still giving this IEM a good soundstage relative to the bombastic bass.CONCLUSION
The KS ZS3 is a very competitive budget IEM. Is it a giant killer? You tell me. I never owned no giants nor tried some in the IEM department. As I said, I am an over-ear person. I find them most comfortable & enjoyable. I equate comfort khổng lồ sound because there’s no point enjoying music if it gives you pain.If you’re looking for a set perfect for the daily commute, this one’s for you. If you are looking for a daily driver just for sheer music enjoyment, this one’s for you. If you enjoy movies using IEMs, this one’s for you too. For professional monitoring, I wouldn’t say so. I have the Shure SRH440. That is tuned for monitoring purposes. Not this one. If you love powerful bass, go get one! It’s definitely a great budget find in that department! Enjoy! And…Happy listening, everyone!
